Without the struggle there are no wings . . . the symbol of the butterfly represents life’s lessons that lead to acceptance and a transformation of oneself. These lovely insects are also a metaphor of the happy memories of loved ones that have departed from our world and the fragile flowers are a reminder of how fleeting life is. As a still life artist, I also love the concept of butterflies as self-propelled flowers and flowers as tethered butterflies.

This series is dedicated to my father who passed away on August, 13, 2012.

The butterflies represent his loving, kind and patient spirit. To read more about this series of paintings, please visit my blog.
